Vaiśampāyana said: O king! After a few days, the great festival of the Vṛṣṇi-s and the Andhaka-s was held on Mount Raivataka.
वैशम्पायन ने कहा: हे राजा! कुछ दिनों के बाद, वृष्णियों और अंधकों का महान उत्सव रैवतक पर्वत पर आयोजित किया गया।
The warriors gave away gifts to thousands of brāhmana-s in that festival of the Bhojā-s, Vṛṣṇi-s and Andhaka-s on that mountain.

O king! The region all around the mountain was adorned with palaces full of jewels. Every tree there was decorated with lamps.
हे राजा! पर्वत के चारों ओर का क्षेत्र रत्नों से भरे महलों से सुशोभित था। वहां के हर पेड़ को दीयों से सजाया गया था.
Together, all the musicians played their musical instruments, the dancers danced, and the singers sang songs.

All the immensely energetic Vṛṣṇi youth were adorned with ornaments, as they rode on their colourful and golden chariots.

As they wandered, they saw Vāsudeva's beautiful daughter Bhadrā, ornamented, and with her friends.

On seeing her, Arjuna was struck by the god of love and Kṛṣṇā noticed the signs that Pārtha's mind was intently riveted on her.

O Pārtha! She is my sister and from the same womb as Sāraṇa. If your mind is set on her, I can speak to my father myself."
हे पार्थ! वह मेरी बहन है और सरना की ही कोख से पैदा हुई है। अगर आपका मन उस पर आ गया है तो मैं खुद अपने पिता से बात कर सकता हूं।”

Arjuna replied: "She is Vāsudeva's daughter and Vāsudeva's sister. She is beautiful. How can I not be captivated?
अर्जुन ने उत्तर दिया: "वह वासुदेव की बेटी और वासुदेव की बहन है। वह सुंदर है। मैं मोहित कैसे नहीं हो सकता?"
If this daughter of the Vṛṣṇi lineage, your sister, becomes my wife, I must certainly have performed only good deeds.
यदि वृष्णि वंश की यह कन्या, तुम्हारी बहन, मेरी पत्नी बनेगी, तो निश्चय ही मैंने केवल अच्छे कर्म किये होंगे।

प्राप्तौ तु क उपायः स्यात्तद्ब्रवीहि जनार्दन आस्थास्यामि तथा सर्वं यदि शक्यं नरेण तत्
O Janārdana! Tell me how I can obtain her. I will do everything that any man can."
हे जनार्दन! मुझे बताएं कि मैं उसे कैसे प्राप्त कर सकता हूं। मैं वह सब कुछ करूँगा जो कोई भी आदमी कर सकता है।"

वासुदेव उवाच स्वयंवरः क्षत्रियाणां विवाहः पुरुषर्षभ स च संशयितः पार्थ स्वभावस्यानिमित्ततः
Vāsudeva said: "O bull among men! A svayaṃvara is the form of marriage for kṣatriya-s. O Pārtha! But that is uncertain if one doesn't know the inclination.
वासुदेव ने कहा: "हे नरश्रेष्ठ! स्वयंवर क्षत्रियों के लिए विवाह का रूप है। हे पार्थ! लेकिन यह अनिश्चित है अगर कोई झुकाव नहीं जानता है।
Those who are learned in the ways of dharma say that for kṣatriya-s, who are warriors, abduction for marriage is permissible.
जो लोग धर्म के बारे में जानते हैं, वे कहते हैं कि क्षत्रियों के लिए, जो योद्धा हैं, विवाह के लिए अपहरण की अनुमति है।

हे अर्जुन! इसलिए मेरी सुन्दर बहन का अपहरण कर लो. कौन जानता है कि वह स्वयंवर में क्या कर सकती है?"
Vaiśampāyana said: O king! Having thus decided on the course of action, Arjuna and Kṛṣṇā then sent off swift men as messengers,
